Stats 7.20.10: 10 rounds logged in Golf shot

So i just played a few rounds at TCP at Snoqualmie Ridge this weekend and I played alright. I was having trouble with my alignment again which i feel was the cause of me coming over-the-top resulting in a nasty pull/hook. I feel i played well with a lack of confidence. I have my tournament coming up this week and I NEED to get my tee-shots under control. I have let my obsession with swing mechanics pollute my mind and rough up my short iron set-up. 'is the ball too far forward, are my hands too far forward, are my hands too far from my body, am i bringing the club too far inside during my take away?'... agh! Regardless, handicap is dropping!

Sumner Meadows Meltdown w/ Stats: 7.11.10

I love this game. So what the heck happened here? 7% of fairways?? Thank god i still beat Jordan by one stroke. I can't complain, i shot my handicap. It was a beautiful days but it was ONE OF THOSE DAYS where i had zero confidence standing over the ball. Can i blame it on the sun? It was kind of fun to be back in that beginner mindset. I still had blast but i think I need to take a few days off so i can unlearn any bad habits i may have developed. I'll be back on the course mid-week to freshen up for the tourney next week.

My Stats 6.30.10 TPC Snoqualmie Ridge

So I played TPC yesterday to get warmed up for the tourney at the end of the month and played pretty well (Scorecard Below). I focused on strengthening my grip and used my pre-shot routine to help myself setup with proper alignment which really seemed to meow out my swing. I'm definitely playing a lot better than my handicap so improvements are underway.

Current Statistics Last 3 rounds:

Since i've started using this application to track my statistics, it's helped me isolate the areas i need to improve on. I've been working on my driver in the range, which is where i realized i need to strengthen my grip to prevent me from always missing the fairway left (i'm left handed). This is something i need to continue to work on, but now it's more of a set-up and alignment. My contact is solid, but my swing is still too inconsistent.

My Stats 6.28.10

So, I missed every fairway on the back 9 which killed me but i still managed to play a decent game. I shot a 78 which was -6 my handicap. I had to take a few penalty strokes due to my inability to aim at the fairway at the moment. Left, right... right... left. You never know. I also missed a few short putts. Lucky I was able to recover when i was 2 fairways over due to my iron and short game play. Stat's below.

I think i need to strengthen my grip, specifically my bottom hand. I have a neutral to weak grip because i'm so use to snapping my wrists... I'm slowing it down. I also need to focus on drilling down with my following shoulder and throw my hands "out and up" at impact vs. "down and thru" resulting in an over-the-top high fade/slice. I've been watching some instructional video's posted below. I'm going to go to the range today and just work on fairway hittin'. I have a round at TCP tomorrow. No broken windows please!!

My Stats 6.24.10

I just now started using this app for my iPhone called GolfShot which allows me to track all of my stats. It's a pretty good program. I only have one round logged in the stats you see below so i'll expect them to improve as I improve.

Somethings going on with my swing. I'm having a hell of a time hitting the fairway, and an even harder time aiming. I go threw periods where it's so simple to get the ball were i want it to go... then it be comes so difficult to get it to go even in the general direction i want it to go. I've been practicing a lot to identify where this inconsistency is coming from. Short game is deadly... thank god.

Me: The beginning... the mission

I have a 4 day tournament at TCP at the end of July with my Father. I've been hitting up the par three course a few days a week to dial in my short game. It's dialed in. My main focus will switch to hitting fairways the week leading up to the tourney. When my 290+ yard drives are a few degrees offline... the strokes really add up. It's an ego thing, i have such a hard time slowing down my driver. On this road to scratch... this is something i'll need to overcome.

Current areas of focus w/ Links

Swing Plane drills for thought to reduce my outside in swing path and improve my alignement.
Swing Plane thoughts on reshaping your swing and ensuring a proper spine angle.
Squaring the back of my hand a the top of my back swing to reduce my slice.
Gripping the damn club: no consistency.

Practice with a purpose

Swing Thoughts: Slow and steady takeaway, front arm straight, maintain back elbow close to body and point the butt of the shaft at the ball during the up and downswing; downswing starts slow and accelerate through impact.
